At sea far from Home

Here’s a new track

The Incredible image is a photograph by Martin Pickard of Anthony Gormley’s staggering sculptures in the sea.

This piece is called At Sea far from Home and it’s from an album I’m developing to be announced soon! Let me know what you think…

Sponsor me and get a free album

If you’re kind enough to sponsor a wonderful charity, I’ll send you a free album download!

In 2005 I ran the London Marathon with my friends Andy and Rob in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

This year, we’re running it again in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust (an incredible Leukemia charity).

26.2 miles is a jolly long way, and as many of you know I’m not a sporting chap (but I seem to be able to run for hours, which is just as well…).

I’m now up to 15 miles on my training runs. This normally involves going out fairly late at night with a headtorch, GPS and a playlist of scary music on my iPod(makes me run faster in the dark between villages!). I also have to drink lucozade Sport drinks on the way which are deeply unpleasant but do the job…

Here’s my deal with you;

If you sponsor me £1 / $1 or €1, (or more), then I will send you a special one-off album of my most popular tracks as featured  on iTunes – ie tracks from, ‘In the Shadow of the Moon’, ‘Henry Mind of a Tyrant’ and pieces from my forthcoming Piano album, (examples below)

Go to this page here to leave however much or little you want, then drop me a message in the comments below (this can stay private), and I’ll send you a download code by return.

Thankyou lovely people….

Concerto for Stuka Bomber and Orchestra

Here’s a sketch for a concerto for Stuka Bomber and Orchestra. Should be fun to stage…!

Radiomovies Roundup

Radio 4′s Soul Music today featured Jeff Buckley’s amazing performance of Dido’s Lament at the Meltdown Festival in 1995. You can listen to the programme here.

Nice image from Michel

I’m stuck into a really exciting film project that will be released in the Autumn with an album launch… can’t say too much yet…

Also had a nice invite to play on Later with Jools Holland. Last time I was on with The Hours, we were alongside The Scissor Sisters & Damon Albarn. That made my month!

Just a reminder that my Henry VIII soundtrack is available on iTunes here. To preview it click the play button below…

By the way, if you’ve requested specific MP3s recently, I’m slowly getting round to sending them out (thanks for your patience!).

Best, Philip

Jeff Buckley Feature on BBC Radio 4

The forthcoming Radio 4 programme Soul Music features Jeff Buckley’s amazing Meltdown performance of Dido’s Lament.

It’s on Tuesday 9th March at 1.30 pm. I’m afraid I’m on there too raving about the man!

Here’s a previous article I wrote with a shaky bootleg recording too…
