Here’s a version of Handel’s Sarabande I wrote for Alexander McQueen’s Paris fashion show.
It was performed live by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
The piece involved a sort of inside out version of the Handel mixed with the sound of Lancaster bombers – culminating in a baroque take on Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones.
So.. Here’s an excerpt from Sarabande in Black:

Philip,
You were so fortunate to have worked with/for him. I only wish he hadn’t been so hasty in his sorrow.
Did you play the piece for his web tribute?
Warmly,
Melissa
I fell in love with this collection and this version of the song. Where can I get it?
hi lackadaisygirl,
I bought it on itunes.
Academy of St Martins.
100 best classics.
It is such a moving piece.
Hi Melissa -
The version of “Sarabande” on 100 Best Classics is the original Handel composition, which is much slower than “Sarabande in Black.” As far as I can tell, there is no recording of “Sarabande in Black” available, which is such a shame.
