I’m on BBC Radio 4′s Front Row tonight to talk about music & journeys.
I’m with a total hero of mine – Adrian Utley from Portishead – both of us being interviewed by Mark Lawson.

Last night saw the first ever collaboration between Impropera & Not so Silent Movies… at the wonderful Kings Place. We improvised a new score, and new operatic narrative to Nosferatu… well, it is nearly Halloween.

Last month was great fun too – Jarvis Cocker, Dario Marianelli and John Etheridge joined our fabulous house band.

Music can sometimes describe the impossible. I love the escapist potential of music and sound design, and my constant struggle is to write pieces that act as soundscapes to imaginary places. This piece is called ‘If there is a Heaven’.

In 2005 I ran the London Marathon with my friends Andy and Rob in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

This year, we’re running it again in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust (an incredible Leukemia charity).

26.2 miles is a jolly long way, and as many of you know I’m not a sporting chap (but I seem to be able to run for hours, which is just as well…).

I’m now up to 15 miles on my training runs. This normally involves going out fairly late at night with a headtorch, GPS and a playlist of scary music on my iPod(makes me run faster in the dark between villages!). I also have to drink lucozade Sport drinks on the way which are deeply unpleasant but do the job…

Here’s my deal with you;

The Tillman Story is in competition at Sundance, so we’re all getting excited about the premiere at the Egyptian Theatre. Meanwhile, Sergio has made the Oscar shortlist.

Also now halfway through writing a big USA film project that I’m loving working on. Also finished a film where I’m sharing a credit with Moby (which is nice, but I doubt he shares my excitement…)

Here’s a rollicking snow dance for Henry VIII at Hampton Court, performed by me with Fretwork, the wonderful viol consort. This was used in the David Starkey series, Henry Mind of a Tyrant.
