Keynote Speaking

On Sept 29, 2018 from 2 – 3PM at the 2018 Festival of Sound, Philip delivered his keynote:

Shut Up and Play the Cello with Philip Sheppard

Philip Sheppard, some 17th Century technology and a stomp box or two…

From Bowie and UNKLE to Suzanne Vega and Odesza, Philip Sheppard has been responsible for many strange noises behind the scenes.

In this unique talk he lifts the lid on some trade secrets and proves why Pythagoras and Hendrix would have had to sit apart in class.

Philip and James Lavelle also opened the 2018 Festival of Sound with their show REDUX on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, 8:00 – 10:30 PM.

The Festival of Sound is the most highly anticipated music and luxury audio event of the year featuring the world’s best home and portable audio entertainment solutions. “Philip Sheppard is the Rick Wakeman of the Cello! Apart from being an astonishing musician and arranger he also has a parallel career as a very funny, clever and engaging raconteur. Miss him and you’ll only have yourself to blame!” – Vernon Hamblin, Producer, Festival of Sound
“From the first stroke of the bow at Thursday night’s opening concert we all knew we were in for something very special indeed from Philip Sheppard. And he didn’t disappoint.
His exquisite musicianship, solo and with James Lavelle on Redux, was the perfect start to the music focused Festival of Sound. The audience was simply spellbound and this continued on Sunday with his incredible “Shut up and play the Cello” seminar. A witty comic, virtuoso cellist and all round great guy and we count ourselves extremely honoured to have had Philip’s presence at our event.” – Phil Hansen, Public Relations, Ash Communications
